Going to the pumpkin patch is like a Fall right of passage. My Instagram feed is packed with pumpkin patch pictures! I have tried to take Zoey every year since she was born & ever since we became a family we have set up a few MUST-DO things for each season. Visiting a Pumpkin Patch made the list. This year we made a visit to our local Pumpkin Festival! Pumpkin patches & festivals have so much more to offer than just picking your pumpkin. Here are our favorite pumpkin patch activities:
-
The Petting Zoo
Turns out I have a little animal lover at home. Lia loved petting the sheep in the petting zoo. She giggled every time she nibbled on her little hand and she kept reaching out for more. Although hesitant I was so happy we gave it a try!
-
Buying Yummy Things To Eat
Each pumpkin patch I have visited has some version of carnival food. Since we went to a WAY BIGGER one this year there were food trucks for days and so much to choose from. My favorite is kettle corn-always a must!
-
Wooden Cutout Pictures
I do not know the correct terminology but you know those big wooden photo ops, something painted on the front and a cutout for your head? We LOVE these…okay I LOVE these! I don’t pass up on an opportunity to make my kids look like a scarecrow or a pumpkin haha.
-
Corn Mazes
Teamwork for these are awesome. It’s always fun to get lost. Just make sure to keep your little ones by your side at all time!

Choosing a Pumpkin
Finding a pumpkin that is perfect for you is so much fun. Whether you are looking for the perfect one or love ones with a little quirk-there is something for everyone. We follow a few tips to find ours: always choose one with a long stem-they last longer, know what you want to carve to know what size you need, bring a wagon or something to carry them. This year we had 4 pumpkins-wagon was our best friend.
Whatever you want there is something for everyone. The best part of it is getting to go and spend time with family. It’s a great opportunity to make some lasting memories with your kids. Zoey now looks forward to our family trips to the pumpkin patch & all the fun carving those beauties once we go home!
What are your favorite Pumpkin Patch Activities?
We dont have “pumkin patch” in Switzerland but we do have farms that organize something similar. However they are not as cool those in the US.
Kinda sad because I don’t think we’ll make it to the pumpkin patch this year, but if we did go I would be sure that we did a hayride!
Hayrides! Those must be done 🙂
Nice topic…i love farms specially Corn’s
We love visiting the pumpkin patch! I love going through the corn mazes in our area this time of year.
I have never done a hayride but hope to try next year.
This looks so fun! We are going to a corn maze this evening!
