I picked out Lia’s 1st Birthday Party theme when she was about 6 months old.  I wanted something fun & bright just like her. The winner- Party Like A Pineapple, a pineapple & flamingo party. The perfect theme for a pool/end of summer party. I searched for months and began collecting decorations from Dollar Tree, Target, Amazon & Michaels along with some DIY ideas. Ready to see the turnout?

Pappa Bear, Mamma Bear, & Lia

We found these awesome shirts for us to match! I found mine on Amazon, Pappa Bear’s had a pink flamingo on the back from Active, & Lia’s swim suit from Gymboree.

Lia on her party table

Since I had the theme picked early on I scored these flamingo cups we put rice pudding, the flamingo cutout, plastic tablecloth and the pineapple toothpicks  at Dollar Tree. We ordered our cake & cupcakes from Sams club and I made the topper for the cake out of card stock! I set up her birthday pictures in frames from the Dollar Tree around her dessert table & on every table. The flower garlands I got for $2 at Michaels.

High chair bannerI made this high chair banner out of ribbon & tulle I had laying around and a burlap cutout I had too. I wrapped the ribbon and tulle around a piece of rope and hot glued the paper one cutout.

Welcome pineapple sign from dollar tree

Another sign I found at Dollar Tree. flamingo straw

Scored these cute straws and similar pineapple ones at Dollar Tree too.

party set up

My mom & I made these pineapple lanterns to hang around. Found a great deal on supplies from Amazon and all we had to do was cut the tissue paper length wise and bunch up to look like the top of a pineapple. I made the centerpieces myself cutting out the inside of the pineapples (used that to make pineapple water)  then placed a water bottle I cut the top off of , filled it up with water, and placed flowers inside. dessert table

I decided to be an adventurer and make the pineapple decorated cookies myself. They were a huge success. Also not as pretty as those I could’ve bought they did taste delicious! These inflatable flamingos were part of their goodie bags. Placed a plastic cup inside with a few pieces of candy and voila!

Mamma & Pappa Bear

One of my favorite parts was this banner I made out of cardstock, small clothespins, and some twine. I made a banner with a picture of Lia at each month. Everyone enjoyed watching her grow and her personality shine through.

I had found signs similar for $15-$20 online. I spent $5 on cardstock and used some leftover twine to put together my own Party Like A Pineapple Sign.

snapchat filter

Nowadays Snapchat filters are everywhere! I designed this cute and easy filter on Canva! Then uploaded it to Snapchat for a total of $5 for 12 hours on that day! We had so much fun using it.

It was truly a day to remember.  It was a day full of food, fun, laughter, swimming, & sweets! A perfect day with our friends and loved ones all partying like a pineapple for Lia.

  1. I totally want a flamingo and pineapple party for myself!!! If either of my babies had been girls, their nursery would have been flamingo because I’m flamingo obsessed.

  2. Oh I lived this and pinned on my Pinterest !! It’s so great people are doing more than just superheroes and princesses these days !

  3. What a fun theme! Great idea to collect ahead while the supplies were out there. My daughter’s minions party was DIY because she wanted the theme before they had their first stand alone movie and I couldn’t find anything minion then.
