5 Tips To Shop With Kids Safely This Christmas

With the holiday season upon us everything will start to get crowded. There will be rushes of shoppers trying to stock up on all the great deals. Shopping without your kids during the holidays is not always something that can be avoided. Then you add on all the extra holiday activities overflowing with people. It can be scary and intimidating for a parent.  I  put together a list with some tips for all you mammas & pappas to keep your little ones safe while out this holiday season.

The holidays are upon us & so are the crowds. I have 5 tips to keep your kiddos stay safe while shopping this holiday season.

  1. Be Vigilant

Always keep a lookout. Be aware of your closest exits and be aware of your surroundings. I know we can some times become distracted; we have kids with us, a list to take care of, and time constraints. Take the extra seconds to look around.

  2. Keep Your Little Ones Close

Kids love to wander and explore and can easily disappear from right in front of you. If your little one is still in a stroller or can sit in the shopping cart seat-USE it! Buckle them in and keep them safely close to you. I love to baby wear when I am out and about. Aside from the freedom it gives me it is also extremely safe to have her to close to me. When I run errands with both girls on is in the carrier and the other hand in mine.

  3. Talk To Your Kids

It’s sad to think we have to have these conversations with our little ones, but we do. We need to prepare them for the unkindness our there without tarnishing their childhood spirit. I am constantly having conversations with Zoey about these incidents.

    • What to do if a stranger tries to lure her away

    • To yell at the top of her lungs if someone tries to take her or her sister

    • To beware of strangers

    • To kick, scream, fight, bite, whatever she needs to do if someone tries to take her.

  4. Shop With A Friend/Family Member

I know we can’t always run around in groups. But if you can wait until someone else can go with you, then do so. I definitely recommend this in crowded areas. Extra eyes never hurt anyone!

  5. Trust Your Gut

We have super instincts as parents, trust them. If someone makes you feel uncomfortable it’s for a reason. This man gave me a strange vibe and I immediately walked away. It is so difficult to differentiate a kind stranger from a malicious one nowadays so even if they look nice, trust your feelings.

The holidays are upon us & so are the crowds. I have 5 tips to keep your kiddos stay safe while shopping this holiday season.

These are just a few things I am keeping in mind as I run around with life! The holiday season is coming up & that means plenty of crowded stores, malls, and airports for so many of us. If you have any other tips I would to read them. Drop a comment below. Stay safe mamma bears!

Thanks for sharing. Funny, my husband and I were just talking about this last night, how difficult it would be to go black Friday shopping with kids. Great tips!

This is SO important! My son used to blurt out all of his info to anyone that asked. He would mention the name of his school or his regular bedtime, etc (innocent things to a then-5 year old…but TMI to someone who might try to abduct him!) so I think the best thing you could do is really talk to them about public places, people, and situations. Great job, Mamma Bear! XO

Great post! I think every Mom and Dad needs to read this. My oldest just started running away in the store. Which is never fun with two other small kids with you. You end up leaving the two, to chase the one. Motherhood sure is fun

You are much better than me. If I had children, I would not dare take them to a mall during this time of year! Great post

This is so important! Sometimes, my family jokes about how paranoid I can be with my kids but hey… you can never be too careful, right?

This is so important! During the holidays, we try to do our shopping online as much as possible, but there are some items that you need to go to the stores to purchase. In those times, we always make sure the hubby and I are together if we have to bring our little dude. Safety first!
