So I am sharing some super exciting news- I’M ENGAGED!!! If you follow me on Instagram you know that already lol but in case you didn’t well now you do! I know what you are wondering and-no, we are not married already. But that’s about to change! Wooh! I am so excited to share this new journey and chapter in our lives, what a better time than now to share a little of our story with you!

I met Marcos when we were in the 6th grade-crazy right! We had the same group of friends all throughout middle school. When high school came about we went to different schools and that was that. One day cleaning out my old room I found my memory box where I had tons of pictures dating all the way back to 6th grade. Mind you this is like 15 years later!  We reconnected after not speaking to each other for a good 10 years! So crazy! We went on a lunch date and ever since that day we haven’t spent a day where we are not in contact. We even had a very successful long distance part of our relationship. Almost 2 years filled with plane rides and  road trips to San Francisco, and lots and lots of facetiming. I basically lived in San Francisco part time for 2 years. We had a baby, moved in together, and here we are now. YAY!

The Idea

After he proposed I shook him down for the background on it haha! Turns out Zoey has been a key part of planning this proposal. She gave him the idea to do it at this beautiful park we had been to previously. And I really mean beautiful! He knew he wanted it to be private-only the girls and us, which was exactly what it was. I loved it. AND we knew we wanted to capture the moment so he had our dear friend and photographer Tiffany Anne hiding out with her camera.

Pre-Proposal

The weekend before Thanksgiving we were planning out our week. We were running through our plans and as usual we found a family activity. Marcos suggested we had a picnic at the “park will all the playgrounds” since we would have “tons of Thanksgiving leftovers”. I really though nothing of it at the time. The next morning I though to myself “What if he is proposing? Hmm..no I am imagining things”. Regardless I kept hope haha. For the past couple of months any time he suggested an outing I wondered if it could be THE DAY! Let’s just say I was religiously getting manicures just in case …haha!

The Proposal

I still kept hope up until that morning. We had a friend from out of town stop by and our 12:00pm picnic kept getting pushed back. This made me think there was no way it would happening considering he would have to keep Tiffany waiting. We ended up at the park closer to 2:00pm, unloaded our car and set up camp. Boy was it a beautiful day to be outdoors- 80 degrees and sunny, just perfect. We played with the girls for a bit and then headed back to our little camp to eat our lunches. Lia was enjoying a pb&j when Marcos started off with “Today is such a beautiful day. We will be having more days like these in our future”, I nodded my head thinking “Sure more picnics that sounds fun.” THEN he got on one knee and pulled out a little black box. He said:

I love you so much, both of you (he looked at Zoey who was now behind me staring at the ring). I am ready for this next chapter and to spend the rest of my life with you, with you both. Will you marry me?

I immediately began to cry, I could not even say yes I just nodded my head and told him “Hurry up put it on (haha)”. During this whole time from the corner of my eye I was able to spot Tiffany running at us like a total paparazzi to capture our expressions. Those photos mean more than you can imagine. She then told us the story of how she had to sit with some people she did not know to blend in. Talk about commitment! lol!

After the picnic we went our for ice cream, a family tradition when we are celebrating something. What can I say we love our ice cream!

We haven’t set a date yet. We haven’t set a location yet & that budget is definitely a work in progress. But boy have I created tons of Pinterest board with everything from bridal party things, bridal showers, and wedding themes. Can you blame me? I am so excited to share the rest of my life with this man & our journey with you all.

Love,

Karen

  1. Yaaaay! Congratulations!! I am so excited for you! That’s such a great proposal story too! I can’t wait for you to start planning the wedding, it’s so stressful but it’s so exciting! Try to embrace every part of it. I just got married last weekend and let me tell you it was all worth it. There were so many times while planning I thought about just eloping and saving money. But if you have a big family or a lot of friends who are like family, it’s so worth it to celebrate with everyone you love. I also seriously encourage using The Knot app, it’s so helpful. Lol, I just miss planning at this point. Good luck with everything, I wish you a lifetime of happiness :)!
