Our household has been taking their fitness goals very seriously. We want to make sure we spend as much time staying active and being outdoors. Although we do love a good home workout, we also love to get out and grab some fresh air while burning off those tacos! One of the ways we like to stay active is by taking family walks. We grab Lia and Zoey’s bikes and go outside for a nice walk.
The days and nights have started warming up in SoCal. I can step outside in the evenings and not freeze my buns off! That’s a win. This means we can take our walks at night too now. Wooh! During the super hot months we love to take walks at night and enjoy being outside without the blazing heat. On these walks; whether it be day or night there are a few things we must bring every time.
Walking outside at night does not always seem like the best option considering well-it’s dark! We, and I really mean WE (Marcos was extra excited about these) were happy to try out the Night Trek 270 Tactical Shoe Lights. When I thought shoe lights I really had no idea what these would be like. I guess I imagined one of those tiny bulbs tied to the top of your shoe. I had no idea we would be fully lit!
The Night Trek Shoe Lights provide you with visibility from literally all directions. You have the option for 3 settings; ultra-light, ultra-bright and the blinking lights. The light beam stretches up to 30 feet giving you great visibility and allowing for those around you to see you as well. Not only are they water resistant, the batter is rechargeable and lasts from 3-5 hours! You better believe we will be packing them for all our adventures. These lights are not just great for adventure, they are a necessary for our safety and the girls’.
We make sure to walk out with at least 3 bottles of water. Lia and Zoey are the first to grab a drink. Marcos and I also like to make sure we stay hydrated as well, specially in those hot summer nights.
Although the majority of our walks don’t require jackets you never know when a cool breeze will come through. We pack a light jacket or hoodie for each of us. Lia’s smart trike has a little bag attached where we store all this.
We never leave our home without our cellphones. Nowadays cellphones are our lifeline. In case of an emergency this is the way we can reach our family and any emergency services.
These snacks are mostly for the girls. Well, mostly for Lia. At 18 months old this girl wants to eat all day. Although our walks don’t last forever we know the kids can get hungry at any time so we like to pack some fruit or trail mix for a quick bite.
These tips are the tips I think we use with just about every outing with the kids. They ensure we have a fun time while being prepared and staying safe. What are ways you stay active with your kids? Share in the comments below.
