8 Things to Consider When Choosing A Wedding Florist

When you think of a wedding what is the biggest decor you find? FLOWERS! Floral makes up such a huge-if not almost all of the decor at a wedding. It was for that reason exactly that finding the perfect florist was such a big deal for me. Finding vendors for our wedding has been like searching for your soulmate. I have gone and booked people with whom we have felt a connection to. From our venue to our cake and right down to our florist we have gone with what feels right and what feels like us. We wanted to make sure we were a good fit for each other. I created a checklist to help guide us when finding our florist- these are the same things you should take into consideration when finding yours too!

We have booked the talented Lisa from Tre-Fiori Floral Studio. Finding her was not difficult, she was recommended to us by our venue and some of our other vendors.

Floral takes up the majority of decoration and details at a wedding. Choosing the right florist requires you to do some searching. These 8 things will help you find yours!

We wanted to find someone fairly local to our venue. Why? Well for starters it means they’re more likely to have worked at your venue than those that are further out. Lisa is local to the Temecula Valley and her work can be seen in many if not all the locations nearby. Keeping the commute shorter will also help you to avoid delivery fees and dare I say the fear of your flowers running late.

Not every florist will fit your style. Our style is more greenery than anything else and we knew we had to find someone who would take it and run with it. At our cake tasting we showed our baker Laura the idea we had behind our floral decor and she automatically knew to recommend Lisa.

You want to make sure they are free on your date. We were so thrilled when Lisa confirmed she was free on our date! Be sure to start contacting florist 7-8 months in advance, specially if you are getting married during peak season.

Most florist will only take 1-2 weddings per day to ensure they are 200% at each event.

4.Real Reviews

I live off Yelp reviews. However, you need to be conscious of the fact that there are some over the top people leaving some horrible and exaggerated reviews. I look for patterns. If there are 4 good reviews and 1 bad one- read it and read why. Most of the time it isn’t anything crazy. For wedding purposes you can also check for reviews on The Knot and Wedding Wire!

Tre-Fiori had great reviews all around!

Some vendors have pre-made packages. In those packages they include x amount of centerpieces, bouquets, etc. It is important to take into account whether the packages can be modified to fit your wedding’s unique needs.

During my consultation with Lisa we sat down and went over all aspects of the wedding and into details for all decorations, she then created a proposal to fit my weddings needs. It definitely helped to stay within our budget and made sure that we were not missing out on things we needed or things we don’t.

6.Complimentary Items

Find out if your vendor does anything of the sort. I was so happy to learn Lisa makes sure to provide a complimentary tossing bouquet. The thought of having to toss my beautiful bouquet made me want to cry already!!!

Whether it be an extra bouquet or possible bringing extra flowers in case anything needs that extra umph-it’s nice to know ahead of time.

7.SetUp Times

Setting up floral can take a lot of time. You want to make sure your florist has enough time to set up what is needed. During the bouttenniere talk with Lisa I freaked out and asked if she would help the guys with theirs and she said of course! Phew-little details like these are the ones that truly make a difference in the amount of trust I felt for everyone. I am a perfectionist and I could just picture these guys walking down with lopsided flowers, thankfully Lisa has my back!

8.See Their Work

The blogger in me always searches for a person or business on Instagram. Specially when it comes to products. Photographs are proof of the work a business can produce. I searched through Tre Fiori’s Instagram for inspiration as well as “samples” of her work. I was so happy to see a common theme of greenery and just the natural look we are going for. Follow them on Instagram for continued inspiration!

Wedding planning continues to be a joyful time in our lives. The people we have had a chance to meet with and that are now part of our special day are nothing but amazing. Every week we tackle another big part of the day. With florals taken care of everything else seems like minor details-that is how important finding the perfect florist was! So take these 8 pieces of information from me and run with them brides !
