The Importance of Sleep for Parents

There is one thing all parents need and most don’t get…sleep. The world is under the false assumption that once your babies stop being babies you will go back to your regular 8 hours. Nope, even my 8 year old finds her way into our room at night after a bad dream and my toddler shows up just because she woke up.

It wasn’t just our kids preventing us from having a good night sleep, it was also our mattress. According to the National Sleep Foundation a good mattress can last from 7 to 9 years. I had ours for a good 15! Even though we had 5-6 hours of uninterrupted sleep we still woke up tired. Now we all know why!

The importance of sleep

Sleep is a key part of our health. Just because we are not able to sleep 8 hours straight does not mean you can’t rest for those short spurts. It is so important to make sure you have a comfortable mattress to help you rest at night. Lack of sleep can attribute to many health issues as well as the obvious like being tired and not as alert. After a few nights of 5 to less sleep at night we begin to function like someone who is legally drunk. The lack of sleep does not just affect you but you also put those around you at risk. For me, if I don’t feel rested I am extremely irritable. As you can imagine it was for the well being of my family that we replaced that bed!

The changes

I used to wake up not only for my kids, but also when Marcos got up for work at 4:30am. Since we replaced our mattress I don’t even feel him get up. It’s perfect. Our girls are enjoying the mattress themselves. Lia loves laying down in pure comfort and watch cartoons in the morning. Zoey has enjoyed a few jumps on our new mattress too!

Remember, sleep is very important for you as parents and human beings. Invest in your health and replace your mattress as needed. We all not only deserve to feel rested and relaxed but need it in order to care for our kids. I always remind myself that happy parents make for happy children.     This mattress looks like heaven! One thing I need to do very soon is invest in a new one for our bed, so I’ll definitely look into this one.

    Oh yes, it is so easy to forget about your mattress! Then you blink, and it’s 20 years old! I will keep this in mind when shopping for my next one!

    I am the worst mom in the world if I don’t get enough sleep. Thankfully we just bought a new mattress so my sleep has been so comfortable at night!

    Sleep is definitely a big part of our health. As I get older I’m also realizing I need more consistent sleep. I can stay up for half the night and operate normally the next day like I used to!!

    Sleep is so importsnt for kids but oh my, oh so important for us too! This mattress looks wonderful, will have to look into it as we are looking for a new one.
