Hi Friends,
As you all know we in full nesting mode at home. With the arrival of the twins 9 short weeks away we have been spending our time making sure our home is ready for their arrival. Not only are we bringing twins home, this is also the first time we are bringing a baby home as new home owners.
In addition to making sure their nursery is complete there are other home owner duties we have made sure to take care of as well. One very important thing we recently did was install the new First Alert 10-Year Sealed Battery Alarms with Voice Location Technology.

So what is so cool about these alarms? The Journal of Pediatrics (2018) states that: Studies have shown that voice and location technology helps children wake up with there’s an emergency in the home. As a soon to be mama of four this gives me such peace of mind to know that my kids are more likely to be woken up by the voice technology than just the alarm sounds.
In addition to the voice technology another huge benefit is the First Alert 10-year sealed battery that comes in our alarm. This means no needing to worry about changing our battery for 10 years! Let’s face with so much going on there are so many of us who forget to change the batteries as often as we need to. So here are a few safety tips I want to share with you from mamma to mamma:
1.Install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms everywhere
For absolute safety install smoke and carbon monoxide alarms on every level and in every bedroom of your home. Although, we have not yet finished installing them in every single room we definitely plan on doing so. A fire can start anywhere in your home and it is important to have alarms to notify you when there is danger.

2.Regular Tests
You definitely want to make sure you are running tests on your alarms regularly to make sure you know your alarms are working properly. We test our alarms out every month. I even add it to our family calendar so we don’t forget to do so.
3.Battery
You should replace your alarm batteries every 6 months. OR, I recommend upgrading to the First Alert 10-Year Sealed Battery Alarms with Voice Location Technology and you only have to worry about it every 10 years.

4.Replacement
Did you know you should replace your alarms at least every 10 years? When we moved into our home a few months back one of the first things we did was check the alarms. We have now installed our First Alert 10-Year Sealed Battery Alarms with Voice Location Technology and are set for the next 10 years!
5.Plan, Plan, Plan
It is so important to create an emergency plan. This goes for fires, carbon monoxide issues, earthquakes, health emergencies, you name it. Prepare and plan for anything. Along with creating a plan, make sure to discuss it with your kids and family members. It may seem scary to discuss these things with your kids, but they need to be aware and prepared as well.
