COVID-19 has truly changed the ways of parenting. Since this pandemic started my identity as a mother shifted and expanded to add on even more roles. My current role right now is a jack of all trades; I am a teacher, chef, mompreneur, art teacher, personal trainer, housekeeper, laundry master, & online personal shopper.

I think it’s time we shine light on all moms. I want you to know I’m here with you, I feel your anxiety. I feel your stress and I want to bring you some laughter.

I could not pass up the opportunity to join forces with Malt-O-Meal cereal & honor all the important & extra work moms across the country have taken on! Malt-O-Meal is giving away $30,000 worth of personalized gifts to moms (two $500 gifts each day for 30 days), plus Malt-O-Meal cereal for each winner’s pantry, via a social contest on the brand’s Facebook page, now through June 25.

Most of us became teachers overnight. My name was Mrs. Martinez and I have been our friendly preschool & 4th grade teacher for the past two months! As much work as it was, I realized there were A LOT of things I could do as a homeschooler that my kids’ actual teachers never could

After that, it wasn’t half bad! So what things am I talking about? Well, I’m about to share a few of my favorite perks of being a homeschooling parent.

1.Make chores part of school

Some people say cleaning toilets teaches you a lot about building strong character. I am some people.

Some days part of schooling included scrubbing toilets, folding laundry, and one of my favorites- taking out the trash! I call this a win-win situation!

2.Pajama Time

Some days it was class in PJs and others it was ALL DAY IN PJs. Why would anyone want to teach wearing anything other than comfy clothes!?!?

One of my favorite things to do was not just teach in pajamas but also grab a bag (or 2) or our favorite Malt-O-Meal cereal to snack on in the middle of algebra! Pajamas and cereal are just too perfect of a combination to pass up!

Not to mention- cereal is a perfectly acceptable meal at any time of day! And Malt-O-Meal cereal is the perfect choice for savvy moms as it’s less spendy and super tasty.

3.Movie Days

My ideal homeschooling schedule definitely involved a movie per day…or a day of all movies! Yes, I am pretty much the coolest teacher ever! Some days homeschooling needed to be a movie marathon kind of day curled up with a bowl of our favorite Malt-O-Meal cereals & no screaming or crying (both done by me usually).

4.Time Out

I don’t know who needed time outs more- me or them. But either way, just the fact that as their teacher I COULD give them a timeout- well that is usually the small break I need to regroup, refocus, & get back to the ABCs!

As humorous as these all can be, I understand it’s tough. This time has been filled with anxiety created by COVID-19 on top of all our previous responsibilities.

Malt-O-Meal is the champion of moms-we see you! We see all the new roles you have. We know there are good days and there are rough days. We see you pushing through.
