Movie nights are a family favorite. Although they look a bit different nowadays, I’m the first to admit I am loving being able to stream new movies from my home. For the last few weeks the excitement over Disney’s new move Raya and The Last Dragon has been REAL.
Why the excitement? For starters representation! Raya is the first Southeast Asian Princess to join the Disney Princess fam! We are also incredibly excited for another powerful female lead role for our daughters to look up to.
Along with our family review, I’ve shared some of our favorite Raya products below!

What is Raya and The Last Dragon about?
Raya and The Last Dragon takes place in the fantasy world of Kumandra. The movie follows Raya on her adventure to track down the last dragon and bring a better world back. The movie begins by sharing with us how once long ago humans and dragons lived together harmoniously until the dragons lmk sacrificed themselves to save humans from the Druun monsters.
With the Druun monsters returning, Raya embarks on a journey to find the last dragon to stop the Druun.

Two thumbs up from dad! The theme of trust, especially in the era of COVID, is very fitting. We are currently living in a world where we have to trust others and care for each other.

Lia’s Review of Raya and The Last Dragon

Mom’s Review of Raya and The Last Dragon
I can tell you Raya will be on over and over again in our home. Having a 4 and 11 year old to watch this movie with really gave me a great idea of the age ranges for this movie and let me tell you it is truly for the whole family. It is one of those Disney movies that I want EVERYONE to watch! My heart feels so whole & full of light, that Disney magic feeling.
In the world we live in today there is constant belief there is reason to distrust each other. These survival skills have left us disconnected & leading us into isolation. I love that this movie shows the true power of honesty & the way we should still hold on to that part of us.
Raya and The Last Dragon brings a glimmer of hope. Hope that through movies representing underrepresented cultures we can learn about one another, we can trust & we can hold on to the beauty of humanity.
Being the mother to 4 kids, trust is the theme that stood out to me the most. I want my kids to trust each other and have hope in humanity the way this movie shares. Young and old, this is a movie perfect for generations to watch together. There is something for each of us to learn.
And let’s face it the dragons & the amazing, brave, & strong Raya made this mama’s heart so happy. May we continue to show our little women they can make differences as huge as these always

Our Favorite Raya Products
Last week while out at Target, Lia decided to use her allowance money to buy her very own Sisu the Dragon toy. Without knowing much about the movie yet, the idea of a GIRL with a SWORD who KICKS BUTT to find a DRAGON was already causing quite the excitement.
Since we love to really get themed out for movies, we purchased this fun Raya costume and sword.
